| CVE-2026-58224 | 2 Redhat, Samba | 6 Ceph Storage, Enterprise Linux, Openshift and 3 more | 2026-11-06 | 6.5 Medium |
| A flaw was found in Samba's CTDB, the clustered database service used by Samba. Insufficient integrity validation of received CTDB protocol packets allows malformed packets containing invalid field lengths, improperly terminated strings, or inconsistent packet sizes to be processed without adequate bounds checking. A remote attacker with access to the CTDB private network may trigger a denial of service through process crashes or excessive memory consumption and, in limited cases, disclose adjacent memory contents. | ||||
| CVE-2026-2340 | 2 Redhat, Samba | 11 Enterprise Linux, Enterprise Linux Eus, Openshift and 8 more | 2026-11-05 | 6.5 Medium |
| A flaw was found in Samba’s vfs_worm module. The module is intended to provide write-once, read-many (WORM) protections by preventing modification of files after a configurable grace period. Due to insufficient validation during rename operations, an authenticated user with write access to a share could overwrite a protected file by renaming a newly created file over the existing WORM-protected file. | ||||
| CVE-2026-15779 | 2 Redhat, Samba | 3 Enterprise Linux, Rhel Els, Samba | 2026-11-05 | 6.1 Medium |
| A flaw was found in samba's pam_winbind. When mkhomedir is enabled, pam_winbind chowns the target account's home directory without validating the path is not a critical system directory such as /. On affected systems, accounts with / as their home directory (a common default for system accounts) can have this triggered not only by root, but by a non-root user holding a narrow sudo delegation to run commands as that account, causing ownership of / to change and resulting in severe denial of service (SSH, sudo, and package-manager failures). The change does not grant write access to / (which ships with restrictive 0555 permissions on RHEL), so the impact is availability loss rather than further privilege escalation. | ||||
| CVE-2025-0620 | 2 Redhat, Samba | 4 Enterprise Linux, Openshift, Rhel Els and 1 more | 2026-11-05 | 4.9 Medium |
| A flaw was found in Samba. The smbd service daemon does not pick up group membership changes when re-authenticating an expired SMB session. This issue can expose file shares until clients disconnect and then connect again. | ||||
| CVE-2024-12088 | 8 Almalinux, Archlinux, Gentoo and 5 more | 22 Almalinux, Arch Linux, Linux and 19 more | 2026-11-05 | 6.5 Medium |
| A flaw was found in rsync. When using the `--safe-links` option, the rsync client fails to properly verify if a symbolic link destination sent from the server contains another symbolic link within it. This results in a path traversal vulnerability, which may lead to arbitrary file write outside the desired directory. | ||||
| CVE-2024-12086 | 8 Almalinux, Archlinux, Gentoo and 5 more | 13 Almalinux, Arch Linux, Linux and 10 more | 2026-11-05 | 6.1 Medium |
| A flaw was found in rsync. It could allow a server to enumerate the contents of an arbitrary file from the client's machine. This issue occurs when files are being copied from a client to a server. During this process, the rsync server will send checksums of local data to the client to compare with in order to determine what data needs to be sent to the server. By sending specially constructed checksum values for arbitrary files, an attacker may be able to reconstruct the data of those files byte-by-byte based on the responses from the client. | ||||
| CVE-2022-2127 | 4 Debian, Fedoraproject, Redhat and 1 more | 8 Debian Linux, Fedora, Enterprise Linux and 5 more | 2026-11-05 | 5.9 Medium |
| An out-of-bounds read vulnerability was found in Samba due to insufficient length checks in winbindd_pam_auth_crap.c. When performing NTLM authentication, the client replies to cryptographic challenges back to the server. These replies have variable lengths, and Winbind fails to check the lan manager response length. When Winbind is used for NTLM authentication, a maliciously crafted request can trigger an out-of-bounds read in Winbind, possibly resulting in a crash. | ||||
| CVE-2026-4480 | 2 Redhat, Samba | 11 Enterprise Linux, Enterprise Linux Eus, Openshift and 8 more | 2026-11-05 | 9 Critical |
| A flaw was found in the Samba printing subsystem. Samba passes the client-controlled job description string to the command configured with the "print command" setting via the "%J" substitution character without escaping shell meta characters. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted print job description that contains unescaped shell characters. This could lead to remote code execution on the affected system. | ||||
| CVE-2026-4408 | 2 Redhat, Samba | 11 Enterprise Linux, Enterprise Linux Eus, Openshift and 8 more | 2026-11-05 | 9 Critical |
| A flaw was found in Samba. A remote attacker can exploit a misconfiguration in Samba file servers and classic domain controllers that use the "check password script" feature. If this script is configured with the %u substitution character, the client-controlled username is passed without proper escaping of shell meta-characters. This vulnerability allows an attacker to achieve remote command execution on the affected system. This issue primarily affects non-standard configurations where the "check password script" is used with %u and the samba-dcerpcd service is started as a system service. | ||||
| CVE-2026-3012 | 2 Redhat, Samba | 11 Enterprise Linux, Enterprise Linux Eus, Openshift and 8 more | 2026-11-05 | 8 High |
| A flaw was found in Samba’s certificate auto-enrollment Group Policy handling. When certificate auto-enrollment is enabled, Samba may retrieve a CA certificate over an unencrypted HTTP connection and install it into the local trust store without proper verification. An attacker with the ability to intercept or redirect network traffic could exploit this behavior to supply a malicious certificate authority certificate, potentially allowing interception or spoofing of trusted communications. | ||||
| CVE-2026-1933 | 2 Redhat, Samba | 11 Enterprise Linux, Enterprise Linux Eus, Openshift and 8 more | 2026-11-05 | 7.1 High |
| A flaw was found in Samba’s handling of NTFS-style reparse points on shares configured with read only = yes. Due to missing SMB-layer access checks, authenticated users with underlying filesystem write permissions may create or delete reparse point metadata through SMB operations even on read-only exports. This could allow modification of SMB-visible file behavior, including converting files into symbolic links or other reparse point types. | ||||
| CVE-2026-109411 | 2 Redhat, Samba | 4 Enterprise Linux, Openshift, Rhel Els and 1 more | 2026-11-05 | 8.1 High |
| An access control bypass flaw was identified in Samba's vfs_ceph_rgw module in it's openat() function. An authenticated user can bypass access controls to read or overwrite restricted files on shares configured with the experimental vfs_ceph_rgw module. When a client requests an existing file using mismatched character casing, the module fails to perform a case-insensitive lookup correctly, causing the server to treat the operation as creating a new file. As a result, the server skips standard permission checks on the existing file, allowing the attacker to access or overwrite sensitive data owned by other users. | ||||
| CVE-2024-12084 | 8 Almalinux, Archlinux, Gentoo and 5 more | 10 Almalinux, Arch Linux, Linux and 7 more | 2026-11-05 | 9.8 Critical |
| A heap-based buffer overflow flaw was found in the rsync daemon. This issue is due to improper handling of attacker-controlled checksum lengths (s2length) in the code. When MAX_DIGEST_LEN exceeds the fixed SUM_LENGTH (16 bytes), an attacker can write out of bounds in the sum2 buffer. | ||||
| CVE-2026-119741 | 2 Rsync Project, Samba | 2 Rsync, Rsync | 2026-11-04 | 7.5 High |
| rsync before 3.5.2 contains a denial of service vulnerability in the delta-transfer sender's hash_search() in match.c that allows malicious receivers to trigger unbounded strong-checksum work at consecutive offsets. Unauthenticated attackers pulling from a public daemon module can supply weak checksums colliding with consecutive rolling windows plus non-matching strong checksums, exhausting sender CPU across concurrent connections. | ||||
| CVE-2022-42898 | 4 Heimdal Project, Mit, Redhat and 1 more | 10 Heimdal, Kerberos 5, Enterprise Linux and 7 more | 2026-10-14 | 8.8 High |
| PAC parsing in MIT Kerberos 5 (aka krb5) before 1.19.4 and 1.20.x before 1.20.1 has integer overflows that may lead to remote code execution (in KDC, kadmind, or a GSS or Kerberos application server) on 32-bit platforms (which have a resultant heap-based buffer overflow), and cause a denial of service on other platforms. This occurs in krb5_pac_parse in lib/krb5/krb/pac.c. Heimdal before 7.7.1 has "a similar bug." | ||||
| CVE-2024-12085 | 8 Almalinux, Archlinux, Gentoo and 5 more | 29 Almalinux, Arch Linux, Linux and 26 more | 2026-10-13 | 7.5 High |
| A flaw was found in rsync which could be triggered when rsync compares file checksums. This flaw allows an attacker to manipulate the checksum length (s2length) to cause a comparison between a checksum and uninitialized memory and leak one byte of uninitialized stack data at a time. | ||||
| CVE-2026-41035 | 1 Samba | 1 Rsync | 2026-09-04 | 7.4 High |
| In rsync 3.0.1 through 3.4.1, receive_xattr relies on an untrusted length value during a qsort call, leading to a receiver use-after-free. The victim must run rsync with -X (aka --xattrs). On Linux, many (but not all) common configurations are vulnerable. Non-Linux platforms are more widely vulnerable. | ||||
| CVE-2026-29518 | 2 Rsync Project, Samba | 2 Rsync, Rsync | 2026-08-19 | 7 High |
| Rsync versions before 3.4.3 contain a time-of-check to time-of-use (TOCTOU) race condition in daemon file handling that allows attackers to redirect file writes outside intended directories by replacing parent directory components with symbolic links. Attackers with write access to a module path can exploit this race condition to create or overwrite arbitrary files, potentially modifying sensitive system files and achieving privilege escalation when the daemon runs with elevated privileges. This vulnerability can only be triggered if the chroot setting is false. | ||||
| CVE-2026-53789 | 2 Rsync Project, Samba | 2 Rsync, Rsync | 2026-08-15 | 6.5 Medium |
| rsync before 3.5.0 contains an improper path handling vulnerability that allows a malicious sender to expand the scope of --delete operations beyond the intended destination subtree by sending a crafted file list that causes rsync to reclassify implied parent directory entries or treat synthetic paths as the transfer root. Attackers can exploit multiple variants including implied parent reclassification, synthetic root path construction, legacy protocol behavior below version 30, and non-directory root handling to cause the receiver to delete files outside the authorized destination directory. | ||||
| CVE-2026-53784 | 2 Rsync Project, Samba | 2 Rsync, Rsync | 2026-08-15 | 7.1 High |
| rsync before 3.5.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability that allows remote clients to access files outside the intended module root when use chroot is disabled and the module root path or a component of it is a symlink. The daemon calls chdir() to the module root at session initialization without resolving symlinks via realpath() or equivalent, causing subsequent relative-path operations to reference files relative to the symlink target rather than the intended module root, enabling unauthorized file access. | ||||
